(25,841 posts)Second, even if she were totally gray she wouldn't look 70. Whoever wrote that note to her is a complete asshole.

(16,088 posts)why is that wrong or bad?
Women age.
Women are not always thin and "attractive" in the way society demands.
But, they are still people. Even if they are not "beautiful".

(25,841 posts)My hair is totally gray and I just love it. If anyone were to suggest I dye it, I'd laugh at them, then ask if they'd pay for it to be done every week. I stopped coloring my hair nearly ten years ago because I needed to do it every other week, and was looking at every week since I don't happen to think obvious gray roots are a good look. But that's just me.

(268,904 posts)I started graying early and this older woman who lived a few streets away stopped me one day as I was heading to the community football field. She asked me why I didn't dye my hair so I'd look younger. My response was simple - you don't look younger.
She never said another word to me.

(10,828 posts)This woman doesn't owe anyone an apology or explanation. For perceived or nonexistent flaws. Methinks, most women have agonized, been criticized and wasted a whole lot of time wanting to be . . . that someone else, perfect.
Not going to happen for any of us. Congrats to this young woman to have realized this sooner than most.
Be That Person. Sounds like a motto to live by. That and Rock Our Bodies. Love it!
Thanks for posting.

(19,844 posts)...fully gray by age 30. What an asswipe for spewing the man is for making such a comment. Obvious he has some major INSECURITIES and taking them out on her.

(5,591 posts)white hair. I walked away from expensive salon treatments and interim skunk-stripe touch-ups from my natural dark brunette locks and embraced the flawed but honest, come by it naturally genetically passed down hair AND chubby thighs that ten years on a any treadmill wouldn't cure.
And I am plenty cute at 63.
Anyone doesn't like it?
Tough. Look elsewhere. I like me just fine. In fact, I love the look. It is totally me. It's freedom.
If anyone around me has the classless oafishness to play any kind of ageism crap on anyone, they will feel the instant withering wrath of "the LOOK" (that still scares my grown children) and a pointed reminder to critique their own reflections about perfection.
There is beauty everywhere, every age, every shape.
Celebrate it!

(8,378 posts)not to dye their hair (or not to dye their hair anymore).
I stopped dyeing my hair in July. It's growing out slowly, but surely. I'm 58 and I'm happy with the way it's coming in.
This woman is lovely. Good for her for speaking up.

(61,694 posts)I stopped dyeing years ago. So glad I'm not wasting that time every month.
Yes, I miss the body that dyeing gave my hair, but it's been a good decision for me.

(409 posts)is probably the same age as this amazing person. Her hair started turning white when she was 14. She is a great good soul and tried for years to make her hair "look like it should look". She is 38 now with thick beautiful white hair that is actually a thousand colors of white. She has her doctorate in Human Development and works for the county. A new person was just hired and she looked at my Kate and said "You look like the Mother of all Dragons." She does and she is beautiful. I love my girl, and I just want to say, keep an open heart and it always helps.

(4,940 posts)A LOT of premature gray hair, is living your life, having fun, helping others, and paying it forward.
LOL! AND being a redhead of Irish descent, I've got some but I had an aunt who got mad at her first.......... and then laughed. She was 80. I'm 63.
