aren't taught cursive anymore, and Gregg Shorthand is out of fashion, and typewriters have given sway to computers, and fax machines are obsolete, etc, etc. Time marches on

Old navy radioman who served near the end of CW era (was 90% teletype by then). And while I'm still good on a handkey, I lost the ability to receive code. How that's even possible, I don't know.

The navy still teaches it, too:

It is still considered essential knowledge for military personnel in communications.

BTW, I can drive a stick shift and write in cursive.
