Mulvaney: Proposed cuts to Meals on Wheels are compassionate to taxpayers

Mulvaney: Proposed cuts to Meals on Wheels are compassionate to taxpayers
By Louis Nelson 03/16/17 04:36 PM

White House budget chief Mick Mulvaney on Thursday defended the Trump administration’s proposed deep cuts to social welfare programs such as Meals on Wheels and after-school services, saying it’s unfair to taxpayers if such programs don’t show hard results.

“Meals on Wheels sounds great,” Mulvaney said during the White House press briefing, adding that “we're not going to spend [money] on programs that cannot show that they actually deliver the promises that we’ve made to people.”

Mulvaney described the budget blueprint, which calls for dramatic cuts to domestic spending programs in favor of increased funding for the military, as “one of the most compassionate things we can do.”

Is that literally what it is going to take? There will be people who die because they don't have food. In the richest country in the world.

I don't want to witness this. I don't want to sense the pain and anguish, the indignity and the quiet resolve. I don't want these assholes to be able to do this to people. I know their plan is to simply let anyone die who is a perceived "burden", but there has GOT to be someone on the Republican side who has a little compassion left. Someone has GOT to stop this.

We need a central leader to lead the resistance. We need to organize.

are showing failure with school vouchers and charter schools.

Can we be assured the republicants will abandon that horrible idea as a waste of tax payer money?

The results of Meals on Wheels are that old people who are home-bound don't suffer from malnutrition or die. I like those results. Clearly, you'd be just as happy if they did die.

Bugger off, Mulvaney!

If the ass just stopped his weekly Florida trips. The taxpayers shouldn't have to cover security for multiple households, junkets for the kids, or have to put up with an ill-bred liar who has angered our friends and enemies.

Like less retreats on consecutive weekends?

Like trump paying his own inclusive expenses on these retreats? All expenses outside security?

Is he advocating using the white house for business discussion instead of trump’s business collecting tax payer dollars for his retreat options?

At the rate trump's going, he could save enough to save lives by saving programs he wants to cut to the poor, elderly and disabled not to mention children.
