Pressure is building for Trump to apologize for wiretap claim - Will he do it?

This story just keeps growing and the pressure is mounting for Trump to apologize for his smears against Obama. Sean Spicer made it an international incident. Now senior GOPer, Tom Cole, has said Trump needs to apologize.

Have you ever heard Trump apologize for anything? It will be the first time that the liar-in-chief has to say sorry for telling lies.

From Trump's point of view, this would be utter humiliation. To apologize to Obama, who is obviously superior in every way (smarter, more liked, better hair, etc). How small the inadequate, insecure little Trump would feel. Trump would see this as a show of weakness. Personally, I can't see it happening, but how will it play out?

Trump thinks he doesn't need to apologize for a couple of weeks because he will have evidence then. What diversion could he be planning before then?

1. He and Julian Assange are cut from the same cloth: they would die rather than admit they were wrong.

2. Trumpy's pattern is to acknowledge the misinformation, but to NEVER apologize and move on.

This is what he did with the Obama/birth lie. He'll do the same with the Obama surveillance lie.

3. Exactly.

It is rare that he acknowledges a mistake.

5. This is different. There was never this kind of pressure for him to apologize

on the birther lie because he wasn't president. From all directions, there is pressure for him to apologize. Anything short of a proper apology won't wash with the media. In fact, the situation will be worse for him.

15. "I was given that information. I've seen that information around."

That's what he said when he was called out on his easily disprovable claim that his electoral college margin was the largest since Reagan.

His excuse is always "That's what people told me," or "I saw it reported somewhere." "That's the information I was given." It's never his fault for not verifying the (mis)information.

4. Remember the birther issue?

After years of questioning Obama's birth, he ends it with,

"President Barack Obama was born in the United States," end of story

That is exactly how he will end this garbage.

7. That won't end the story, because he is president now. He will be admitting

that his allegations were baseless. That strikes to the heart of his credibility. The media will take that and run with it. He will need to give a full apology this time.

10. Who can he blame? If he blames his sources and doesn't take full

responsibility for his own words, the story becomes even bigger.

9. Maybe, with a Nonapology, I'm sorry people got upset &

misunderstood...the failing NYTimes, with a fuckoff deadpan, I'm sorry I said that, in the middle of a setntence about something else. Then, he will say, can we get away from these distractions that the Dems are creating to throw us off course. He won't do it at legit press conference where the media can flush it out. He's pretty much snuffed that freedom of the press

13. I think that is a good prediction, and you have captured Trump's behavior well.

It will still be a big story for a few days, but then die down. He may also be under pressure to delete those Tweets.

17. Yeah, and throw out a bomshell ot two to change the subject.

Getting dangerous as he has to come up w new things and up the ante...w N Korea flarring up, he could make a big splash. Hopefully, he is saving that for the 25th Amend or impeachment, if there are rumblings. Nah, he's too impusive to plan that far ahead.

11. It will be a non-apology apology. I'm sorry I got caught, even though I

wouldn't be sorry if I weren't caught. I'm sorry if anyone was offended, not that I did anything wrong mind you. It was his fault he took it the wrong way. I was just joking.

14. He'll claim that Hillary Clinton started the controversy, and he ended it.

Then he'll invite reporters to tour his DC hotel again.

16. Now that he got his hand burned

Will he be more careful.

His latest tweet about North Korea makes me think otherwise.

What is history going to record on this period? It is like the late stages of Nixon or Hitler being broadcast to the world. We are only two months in.

Many of them like that he is an "unapologetic tough man." It will be some remarkable evidence to go against their delusion.

And if he apologizes for something like that he won't be able to live with himself.

Trump will set off nukes and justify that by saying Kim farted hard and startled him.
