5. What I wish is that people would be a whole lot less quick

to start trying to handicap the 2020 race.

Who knows what's going to happen in the next three years or so? Someone who might look to be a good candidate right now could easily be a total disaster by 2019. If we lock ourselves into one candidate, or even three possibilities, very early, we lose the chance of responding swiftly to changing circumstances. I honestly think that's part of what went wrong with the 2016 election.
