Far too much damage would be inflicted on Republican representatives both for and against the bill. If they can't count enough votes to pass it in the next 24 hours, I think you're right. The bill will be rescheduled or tabled or someone will see a black cat and demand that the House adjourn for the day, then it will be "Bill? What bill? American Health Care Act? Never heard of it."

We'll see how inclined our bulldogs of the Fourth Estate will be to shove that failure up the Republicans' pasty white asses.

Some think it's too liberal. Some think it's too restrictive. Some think it will cost too much. Some don't want to give Paul Ryan the satisfaction. And some are afraid to vote against the will of their constituents - whom they heard from pretty loudly and clearly during the Town Meetings. I think this all adds up to too few votes.

If they vote against it, they get Trump attacking them and possibly supporting a primary challenger next year (if he's still around, that is) and if they vote for it, they get a Democrat- backed up by an angry crowd of voters appalled by this POS bill who could potentially throw them out of office.

Unless the Freedom Caucus wants to really kill it, I think that it *might* pass the House (no less than Ryan's speakership is at stake) but I can't see it going anywhere in the Senate. It would be delicious if it fails in the House, though.

NBC reported that after Trump's strong arm meeting yesterday, he lost 10 more... I think he's pissing them off with his lies and they've heard too much from their constituents, saying this is a terrible bill... I agree that Ryan wouldn't bring it to a vote if it won't pass, but either way, a delay is a loss for Trump/Ryan & Co.

But they're kind of in a lose-lose situation. If they vote "yes," they piss off their base because they want full repeal. They also piss off moderates who don't want to kill so many poor people all at once. If they vote "no," they piss the same people off because they expected something to happen. It's kind of amusing.

Also because Republicans tend to follow in lock step no matter how awful.
