someone from Russia just broke into my email account. I had to jump through hoops to change my password. I am no one important....just an elderly retired woman.

(2,405 posts)Can you still access your email? It almost sounds like you were phished and the password change was an attempt to get your real password.
I hope all goes well.

(14,162 posts)Small time hackers practicing or it's to send out spam. If you're able to change your password your probably fine. Make sure it's a good one.. no dictionary words, a number an upper and lower case letter and one crazy symbol like ~ or ^ and best if its at least 12 characters but do your best. Don't be surprised if you get replies to the hackers spam.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
