Resistance Against ACA Repeal Resembles Rosty's Revolt
...that time when Rep. Dan Rostenkowski (D) was besieged by angry seniors and others over the Medicare Catastrophic Coverage Act of 1988, signed by Pres. Ronald Reagan on July 01, 1988, which contained a tax on 40% of the elderly (up to $800 per year for an individual and up to $1,600 per year for a couple.)

...he couldn't go anywhere without a crowd of seniors attacking him. I'm not sure, but I think that's when 'third rail' politics toward health care changes was born.
The constituent response to the republicans repeal effort today is much, much worse.

...that reaction to Rosty and HC changes stood as a political caution for decades afterward.
We're light years and world's away from that moment in time. Americans are deeply invested in Obamacare.
