Question About the Filibuster

Why do some Dems advocate "saving" the filibuster for the next vacancy rather than this one? What is the use of that if McConnell is willing to waive it anyway? What is the logic?

1. The logic is that if Republicans appoint a more radical or less qualified nominee

for a future opening there would be less likely hood for the Republicans to have the voted to eliminate the filibuster
in such a case and so the nomination would fail.

2. Republicans have a very narrow majority in the Senate

They would have a much tougher time holding that majority together if the fight were over replacing Ginsburg with another Scalia... Particularly if we could reasonably claim that we weren't just filibustering every nominee.
