Any WH Staffer or Campaign Assoc Purging Phone Faces 20 Years in Prison for Obstruction of JusticeBy FrankDiPrima Mar 24, 2017 · 8:28 PM PDT
This is, yes, a single source, and unconfirmed. But any White House staffer, and anyone else on the White House staff, or anyone who was formally or informally in or associated with the Trump Campaign, from the President on down to a temporary clerk, should be forewarned any one of you who destroys any electronic evidence, or who knowingly fails to preserve evidence, may face 20 years in prison. The federal criminal code at 18 U.S.C.A. 1873 defines the crime of Obstruction of Justice. Its broadest relevant subsection, 18 U.S. Code § 1519, states the following in the broadest but starkest terms:

(37,648 posts)So they haven't been served with one. The question is...why not? If there is a criminal investigation, seems that the intel agencies would get a subpoena for cell phones and computers and even landline phone voicemail.

(51,129 posts)That was a Tuesday, I think. Friday Trump did his Obama accusation tweets, revealing a lot--nervousness, guilt, and the only strategy left to a cornered crook, try to get the evidence throw out as (politically) tainted.
The White House now has more attorneys working in the WH Counsel's office than Bush had at the peak of their scandals.
This was when the WH got confirmation a secret FISA court was after Trump. Before that they only had the DU post, Mother Jones, and Louise Mensch as sources.

(20,998 posts)...already in place allowing the FBI or NSA to electronically surveil for this reason alone. And let's face it, members of tRump*s loyalist staff are probably NOT the most favorite persons of the US Intelligence community.
Here's hoping stupid is as stupid does. I want to see them all frog-marched out of 1600.

(37,648 posts)They were suspected of being the leaks to Trump and the public about Hillary emails and that there was going to be a new "surprise" that Guiliani let slip on a late night tv show...and then the "surprise" happened. I think the surprise was when Comey announce shortly before the election that the Clinton investigation was not over because there might possibly be something they would be looking at.

(20,998 posts)...I DO NOT BELIEVE that the same rogue anti-HRC contingent had their hooks in the NSA. I think the rogue, anti-HRC faction was entwined with Ghouliani and the retired chief of the NYC office, AND ALSO with Mercer*. I realize the US Intelligence Services probably have a major conservative bent, but I do believe most are patriots and CAN see the forest through the treasonous trees. Only a truly stupid person in any official capacity could believe that tRump* is good for this country.

(51,129 posts)very different group of people than the NY Giulliani loyalists. FBI is doing internal investigation of the political activities of the TrumpLand contingent, no report yet on the results.

(143 posts)The speed traps that cops use to catch people who don't know local ordinances. This trap is ages old and used against both innocent and guilty. The guilty, the ones who actually do know the law but are in CYA (cover your ass) mode don't really think clearly in their panic to purge their complicity. Unless the staff were using burner phones, which is another personal legal liability, all their cell records and content of texts are available to the IC community thanks to the Patriot Act and it's loosening of domestic intelligence gathering restrictions. Thanks to Bush, and the knee jerk reaction and the loosening of the restrictions that diminished and undermined our civil rights after 9/11, the Republicans are suffering and whining about those same 'protections to our safety' that they were totally for to the extent of calling anyone against the Patriot act as an UnAmerican Commie Socialist liberal. Talk about unintended consequences...this is a real bite in their ass.
