It might take awhile, but once an independent commission (or select committee) gets rolling, they'll get the articles of impeachment together quickly.

And, welcome to DU!

I just don't want to be too optimistic.

But yeah, once the shit hits the fan I think it will be fast. He'll say fuck it I'm out.

We have to scream bloody murder and threaten to punish the Republican Party if they even think of pardons and cover ups.

Why wont he be impeached? Its not because he doesnt deserve it but rather its because the Repugnants will never impeach him or any sitting Repugnant President.

giving the needed votes in both to impeach him it's just not going to happen and while that could in theory happen with the House (unlikely though in theory it could happen) there isn't any way the Dems could gain that many Senate seats or at least not until 2020 at the earliest.

They certainly wouldn't impeach him now, but as the 2018 midterms come closer, he may become enough of a liability that they'll want him gone - especially if even more damning Russian ties become apparent.

4 years if not longer if SCOTUS continues to allow them to get away with it.
The Senate they will lose the majority but it wont get the Dems to 60, the earliest we will see a 60+ for the Democrats in the Senate is 2020.

Does he get the presidential pension, after screwing taxpayers for millions for his trips, his "kids" trips, his naked "lady" living arrangements?? He should pay back the treasury for this waste of money. He fooled the bible thumpers/gun humpers BIGLY, and the rest of us are paying.

(for quite some time now) that 2018 will not see a trump presidency.

I can't imagine him resigning (he is far too delusional to realize that this is the only way for him save face).
I suspect that once impeachment proceedings start, he is going to go nuclear, and he will take down as many people as possible with him.

Cheers

than them voting to impeach for criminal reasons.
Why? Because they want to avoid labeling him a criminal for fear of it rubbing off on them and their party but removal for medical reasons simply puts Pence into office without the risk of removing Trump for criminal ones carries.

Between that and the botched attempt at ACA repeal, the Congressional gop will be done with him. If dems get a decent infrastructure bill out of him in the meantime, gop might back it but they will be pissed about having to do so and by that time the rest of the IC shoes will have been dropped and the only way he doesn't get impeached is if the gop HOUSE is so terrified of their own mouthdrooling Base that they'll risk getting unelected if they try it.

until after the midterms. The Repugnants are clearly willing to look the other way on almost ANYTHING Trump does. Violate the emoluments clause? Check! Conspire with the Russians? Check. Mix official government business and private gain? Check! It's all good by them, as long as they get him to sign their bills (oops) and otherwise do their bidding and as long as his dumb-ass supporters are willing to nod their heads in agreement at his every word.

So don't count on the Repugnants in the House putting country above narrow partisanship and personal electoral gain.

BUT as he proves more and more inept at this governing thing, as his madness becomes more and more out in the open, as he he suffers humiliating blow to his narcissistic ego after humiliating blow, they will start to run for cover. they will start stabbing each other in the backs, looking out for their own sorry arses. But they won't ever be organized and angry enough to actually impeach him.

We have to take back the House for that.

But there are a couple of things that could do him in in the meantime. The FBI. They are not playing.

A plethora of well-financed, high-profile civil suits over violations of the emoluments clause and unfair business practices. These are just gaining steam. The CREW suit may not survey the issue of standing. Trump has until sometime in April to respond. We shall see if it is allowed to go forth. If it is.... The ACLU is looking for a plaintive to back, taking a different route on standing.

Then there's the suit by the DC restauranteur alleging unfair business practices because of the Trump Hotel in DC. (where the GSA inexplicably -- well not so much -- recently declared that Trump was NOT in violation of the lease because he is no longer an officer of the Trump Organization. That right there should be grounds for deep suspicion).
