U must be looking at a different graph ,,,,,,The graph show that Obama decreased the federal deficit/GDP$ from 10% when he took office to a tad over 2 % . The Largest decrease by any POTUS ever!

As you indicate, the big spike at the beginning of the Obama years was due to the GOP ~ Bush Depression. If the deficit had been the same as at the beginning of the GW Bush years, the chart would have looked more like the Clinton years!
