General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe evidence is now clear that the WH and Nunes worked together to halt the Russia investigation:
The freeze started after last Mondays hearing, where James Comey, the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, revealed that the F.B.I. has been investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia since last July. Comey also said that there was no evidence to support Trumps tweets about being wiretapped.
Today, the House panel was scheduled to hear from three top officials who had served under the Obama Administration: Sally Yates, the former Deputy Attorney General, who briefly served as acting Attorney General, before being fired by President Trump; John Brennan, the former head of the C.I.A.; and James Clapper, the former director of national intelligence. But last week Nunes cancelled todays hearing.
The Monday hearing last week was, Im sure, not to the White Houses liking, said Himes. Since Monday, Im sorry to say, the chairman has ceased to be the chairman of an investigative committee and has been running interference for the Trump White House, canceling hearings.
Happily, the MSM now has many pieces of the complicated story, whereas only a couple of weeks ago most of the story was being pushed by independent journalists on social media.

comic panel relief provided by Jack Kingston, as usual, who's taken over the CNN wingnut buffoon title from the late lamented double named blonde of the election.....not Kaleigh, she's still there, providing unending ammo for herself to regret some years down the road (providing, of course she has even the tiniest, atavistic vestige of a conscience)
which reminds me......most ironic book title in publishing history:

.......CNN hired Trump mega-supporter Scottie Nell Hughes one day after she appeared on the network and went to town defending a Trump tweet that was so widely seen as anti-Semitic that he deleted it. (Note: Her full-time hiring comes a month after we ran the headline, CNN Literally Silences Donald Trump Supporter Scottie Nell Hughes.)

you MUST watch the video that sums up her most fabulous career that culuminated, and ended, with her hiring last year

(28,795 posts)He just decried the sad fact that, yes, indeed, politics is being played behind the scenes in the House Intelligence circus.
what INSIGHT!
just before he said that, his couterpart said that, despite Spicers' assurance that the WH wouldn't stand in the way of Yate's testifying, that what will most likely happen is that, when it's time to talk, the WH lawyers will intervene, claiming ExPriv, and sadly demur to them.
as soon as he finished this prediction, Kingston praised the WH for coming out in FAVOR of her testifying, and, by implication, asserting that she'll be allowed to talk, with WH abrogation at her back

(9,524 posts)That Ryan is at the center of this scandal since he consulted with Nunes before he went to WH and is in it as deep as Nunes:

(28,795 posts)he's tied in almost as deep as nunes, right?
so much swirling about, but is there audio of both him and nunes, among others, discussing 'nefrarious' subjects

Ryan not in almost as deep, but if anything, deeper since according to O'Donnell, Nunes took his marching orders from Ryan as explained in thread:

(6,916 posts)Yes, Ryan's part of the coverup.
But he's done anyway. He's been exposed as a policy lightweight. I bet he gets defeated in the next election now that the whole nation knows about his granny-starving ways.
Either way, he goes down.

can't wait to see how the WH tries to torpedo the senate. will it be via McTurtle?

(3,256 posts)I think when the ship starts sinking you'll see Republicans fighting with the other rats to be first off the ship. They know their brand is already tarnished and will try to find a way to distance themselves from the party bosses before the next election. It will be hilarious to watch them try to rebrand themselves. We'll know when they start bucking Ryan and McConnell who I think are indictable. Of course I'm being optimistic, but I think after eight years of having control of the house they felt they could get away with anything and have pushed way beyond what the public will tolerate. the real problem is that their is no responsible leadership to replace these assholes.

(60,010 posts)Treasury Dept. has been investigating Manafort for money laundering ( which will spill over on Trump) and a big break came today when the Cyprus Gov. gave the US Treasury a LOT of information they have on Manafort running money thru the Alpfa or Alpha or whatever bank it is in Cyprus. The one that Wilbur Ross is involved with.
It is a pretty well known suspicion that one of the reasons Trump has not revealed his business sources and income from other parts of the globe is that they involve people who are linked to money laundering and other nefarious deeds.
The hotel that just went bankrupt in Toronto, was "owned" by a guy whose father was in prison for money crimes.
(remember, Trump claims he does not own these building, he just leases his name, but in fact, he is part of the ownership)
Interesting thing that he business partners in Russia, in the USA, in Canada, both Toronto and Vancouver, all happen to be involved in money laundering.
Weird co-incidence
