I can't help feeling that an aspect of what he's trying to do

is just pure malice. There are certain things that are especially important to liberals: the environment, social programs, civil rights for minorities, women and immigrants. Trump, in a particularly in-you-face way, is trying to eliminate all government support for these things, as if to say: "These are things you care about and I can take them away from you because I'm the president and you're not." It's a big ol' fuck you to whoever didn't vote for him. The fact that what he's doing is short-sighted and destructive and will cause harm to people - and businesses and corporations too - as well as just us liberals seems to be lost on him, or else he just doesn't care, because he so enjoys delivering that fuck you.
