WASHINGTON Mike Flynn, President Donald Trumps former national security adviser, has told the Federal Bureau of Investigation and congressional officials investigating the Trump campaigns potential ties to Russia that he is willing to be interviewed in exchange for a grant of immunity from prosecution, according to officials with knowledge of the matter.
As an adviser to Trumps presidential campaign, and later one of Trumps top aides in the White House, Flynn was privy to some of the most sensitive foreign-policy deliberations of the new administration and was directly involved in discussions about the possible lifting of sanctions on Russia imposed by the Obama administration.
He has made the offer to the FBI and the House and Senate intelligence committees though his lawyer but has so far found no takers, the officials said. Flynns attorney, Robert Kelner, declined to comment.
An expanded version of this report appears on WSJ.com.

(28,795 posts)greta just posited for flynn the ollie north strategy, which I, ahem, was the first to thrust upon DU
it's how the traitor north got his conviction reversed by a VERY crooked three judge panel (two of whom were reagan appointees, IIRC)
tclambert
(11,193 posts)basing the appeal on the theory that the successful prosecution of his case somehow drew on information from his testimony to Congress, for which testimony Congress had granted him immunity. (Ollie, you confessed to several crimes. You got convicted. A friendly panel of judges ruled that the conviction must not have iedely solely on independently obtained evidence, but benefited from your confessions under oath, but also under an offer of Congressional immunity. That is not exoneration. That is getting off on the tiniest of legalistic loopholes.)

(9,870 posts)He'll get his immunity and still not tell everything he knows. Will protect his most important wealthy friends, who will salt away millions for him or who are blackmailing him with knowledge of even more serious crimes.
Yes, I'm speculating but this guy may be a double flipper if ever there was one.

(10,539 posts)He will want revenge on some and will selfishly want everyone else to go down with him, especially Trump! At least I hope that is how it goes.
I told my family in December that July would be my pick for the over/under on the start of the impeachment process. it is looking to be on schedule. With a little luck this will help grind Congress to a halt.

Trump might like prison. His cellmates would be happy to pee on him for free. #RussiaGate
ecstatic
(35,075 posts)and certainly without giving him a pass on treason. There are mofos in jail for weed and other very minor crimes. Giving him a pass would be another slap in the face and more proof of 2 Americas.

I'm expecting him to help give up a designated fall-guy and save his own hide in the process.
