(6,440 posts)They like to compare Haiti to the neighboring Dominican Republic, which they cite as doing much better economically. The reason they don't like it is that it was founded following a slave uprising. Dominican blacks, in teabagger mythology, are much less uppity, and know their place.

(111,243 posts)although very few people can afford it.
In fact, the US is the only country in the western hemisphere that doesn't have national health insurance.
They're going to have to set their sights on Asia and Africa and the pickings are pretty slim there, too.

(24,461 posts)Typical American Dumbass thinks that the ACA is even remotely like "Universal Health Care".
We're never going to SNIFF Universal Health Care in our lifetimes. The Insurance Lobby is way too large, too incestuous and too mastering of our elected officials. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I'm willing to bet I won't be.

(27,247 posts)Tulsa, which once billed itself as the "Oil Capital of the World", is very conservative. It is home to Oral Roberts University, and Tulsa County votes overwhelmingly Republican in elections-- more than 60% of the county's votes went to bu$h in 2004 and to McCain in 2008.
Norman is probably Oklahoma's closest version of Austin.

(6,335 posts)I remember passing thru Tulsa once when I went to tour ORU. After about a half hour some student came up to me and said that shorts and beards werent allowed on campus so youll have to leave. I should have said Jesus had a beard and/or taken off my shorts and boxers.
Beartracks
(12,809 posts)That would be kinda silly. I can understand a dress and grooming code for students and even faculty, but visitors? I guess you weren't on any official tour, but just walking around on your own. But still....
