In a real revolution the revolutionaries would take every last penny of it.
Gawd, Deplorable are such suckers...

The book returned to the bestseller list in 2011, and beginning in 2015 has been frequently referenced by Steve Bannon, former chairman of Breitbart News and current chief strategist to U.S. President Donald Trump.

(38,048 posts)The United States Constitution has been a functional document for more than two centuries, precisely because the Steve Bannon's of the world were generally not in power.
If he destroys this country, historical reference to him will be very much like that now applied to Robespierre, who was publicly beheaded.
Of course, France suffered greatly when Robespierre was in power, and many innocent people, including one of the founders of the science of chemistry, Lavoisier, lost their lives, so everything that can be done to prevent the Directory wannabe from having his revolution must be done, but if it comes anyway, he will deserve the inevitable outcome.
You make an excellent point.

(38,048 posts)...actually a regular member of the bourgeoisie, but is rather a dangerous radical, but yes, a civil society is one that, among many other important functions, protects that subset of its better off citizenry from violent and arbitrary expropriation.
Bannon will not do well against a mob fueled by pitchforks. If Robespierre, who actually had real power of life and death did not do well, neither will Bannon.
I deplore the idea of violent revolution - and Bannon is clearly a violent man only partially suppressing his darkest desires - but if one comes, he will surely be among its victims.
Every member of the Trump circle, from his political supporters and voters, to his actual inner circle, including Trump himself and his corrupt core of classic nepotists, are working against their own long term interests. Trump himself, an intellectual and physical weakling, may die before being made to answer for his crimes, but many of his circle will not.

(6,916 posts)They'd much rather repeat others' words because then the media take no risk - if the media are criticized they then blame the person they are repeating.
For the media to actually talk about the truth, regardless of what others are saying, means risk for the media. For past 20 years for profit media have been acting like cowards. Luckily in last six months some, like Tapper and Lauer and a few others, have grown backbones and now talk about the truth a little.

(22,976 posts)Seriously, I feel physically ill when I see a photo or video of this unhealthy, dirty, smelly, blotchy, gin-blossomed bottom-feeder. He is repulsive in every regard.
Ever notice how 45, his close advisors and cabinet are ALL failures as whole human beings? That many of the major attributes that comprise maturity, emotional health and balance are just missing in these "people"? All of them? They're hyper aggressive, shoot from the hip, shamelessly repeat blatent lies, and show no genuine emotion? And that they all share an incapacity to laugh at themselves?
