Why I shot ... found on FB

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by mcar (a host of the General Discussion forum).

Here are a sample of the reasons people used their guns last month. As always, we have provided links to local news reports documenting every incident.

My wife left me and started dating a man half my age, so I shot her and her new boyfriend dead. (TX, 3/2)

Some guy honked at me when I ran a stop sign, so I shot him in the face. (FL, 3/3)

I was too drunk to drive, so I got an Uber. In the back seat, I moved my legally-concealed handgun from one pocket to another and it went off. I shot my driver in the back but he was really nice about it. Five stars. (PA, 3/5)

My dad caught me doing some stuff on my computer so he took it away. I was really mad, so I shot him and I also shot his roommate’s girlfriend, because she happened to be there at the time. (OR, 3/8)

My wife moved out so I shot our two daughters dead and then shot my wife in the legs and told her I want her to live so she can suffer with the grief. I had permits for my guns. (IL, 3/10)

I asked my mom to go get me some doughnuts. She said no, so I shot her boyfriend in the face. I also shot one of the cops who responded. And I fired about 30 rounds randomly around my neighborhood. (FL, 3/15)

I was going to drive my kids to school, but when I got into the car my concealed handgun went off and I unintentionally shot myself. (VA, 3/16)

We were arguing and we both had guns so we both felt threatened so we both shot each other. (TN, 3/25)

Many of the people who shot someone can't say why because the someone they shot was themselves.

Over 21000 people killed themselves with a firearm last year. Half of all suicides are done with a gun. And they are by far the most successful means to attempt suicide with.

Suicidal thoughts are often temporary. And the families of those who kill themselves with guns are often left wondering, "if only they hadn't been able to get a gun so easily."

who say our Christian country does not have honor killings when the oldest excuse in the book for murder is - he/she cheated on me.

and died a few years later. The sister of the neice shot felt so much shame at not going to help out her sister that night, she became a Methodist minister and essentially changed her name.

Lots of repercussions just because of one drunken, angry man who kept a loaded handgun to "protect" himself against an intruder.

But the one that stands out to me is the kid (obviously a kid) who wanted his mom to get him doughnuts. This story is wrong on so many levels I don't know where to begin. Suffice it to say that, if you have to beg mommy to get your doughnuts, you are not mature enough to own a firearm.
