(3,847 posts)Her and that voice pandering to rethugs that have switched the channel to watch her, I can't believe there are that many of them, and MSNBC hopes some of the rubes will stay on MSNBC and watch THEIR fair and balanced.

(31,464 posts)I know it's a sore subject with many here, as it was stated by many that Hillary's voice was shrill and turned people off. This isn't the same, I'm not making that argument. It would be the same if it was Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity; that VOICE is almost like a Fox "News" trademark. I can't un-hear the Fox "News" in her voice.

(8 posts)She sucks. Queen of false equivalency.
NewJeffCT
(56,848 posts)agree - the first time I saw her on MSNBC not long ago, she was pulling that "Democrats did something like this before, too" spiel... it really pissed me off as I remembered what she was referring to and it was nothing close to equivalent.

(9,090 posts)she references limbaugh and sons susan rice bullshit.
limabaugh (and probably all his wannabes) repeated that rice lied 5 times on benghazi. so susteren repeats it?
some asshole does an anti muslim video and starts riots around the world and then the benghazi attack and rice states the obvious instead of the rw talking points, which sursteren repeats, about terrorism and they say she's lying to protect muslims (obama)
that was all rw talk radio, and mostly still is a result of ignoring rw radio
she sucks and needs to go. msnbc cannot coddle and train her - she's got too many rw talking points going and needs to go.

(90,021 posts)If there's a video clip of Rachel Maddow and her guest, Andrea Mitchell (and I can't believe I'm advocating this), WATCH it.
Tuesday night Rachel played a clip of Andrea Mitchell's interview with Susan Rice earlier in the day. Then she had Mitchell on, in studio, to elaborate. AND THERE'S WHERE THE MONEY WAS.
We always record the Hardball-Brian Williams block for later watching if we miss something that runs live. So we played it back and I took notes. I was actually impressed with something Andrea Mitchell said.
Her point was that if Susan Rice was tracking all these trump people as intensely as the bad guys are insisting, how come she didn't know that Michael Flynn was an unregistered foreign agent on Turkey's payroll? Mitchell said Rice admitted she found that out when the news media did, when she read it in the newspapers. Mitchell said "that surprised me, too." Mitchell said that's proof that Rice couldn't have been "tracking him that closely," because otherwise she would have discovered Flynn's divided loyalties.
I'm no expert here - but seems to me that slams the door on all the GOP's calculated insinuations and accusations, and then locks it.

(6,122 posts)Her voice is annoying, true enough; however, it is her superior tone that sends me to the remote. She just drips with sarcasm and a hoity-toity twang that insinuates she is right and her fellow panelists are wrong. Gah.....spare me, Greta.

(13 posts)After she left CNN and before she showed up on Fox, she had significant plastic surgery. I'm thinking that Roger Ailes might have approved of the "improvement", but I think she's had some permanent damage. Do a Google -- http://celebritysurgerynews.com/greta-van-susteren-plastic-surgery/

(24,722 posts)out of her forehead. Her face doesn't move an inch. She had an eye lift too. I guess it is personal business to have plastic surgery but since she made it well known in People Magazine etc. it isn't off limits. IMO, she didn't get her money's worth. Yikes. That said, I don't watch her because she's just plain awful and still full-o-faux.

(7,261 posts)She was a former criminal defense and civil trial lawyer. She taught at Georgetown Law as adjunct faculty member.
Greta was first a legal analyst on CNN - co-hosted "Burden of Proof" with Roger Cossack from 1994 to 2002.
Cossack gave prosecutor perspective, Greta gave defense attorney perspective.
She was very good, very knowledgeable. In her element.
Not sure what happened to her - money, fame, 9/11 - something. She moved to Fox in 2002 and went whacky.
Edited to add - I think when she went beyond talking about legal issues, she was out of her element.
True Blue American
(18,579 posts)When Greta went to Fox she had a complete face lift. She looked nothing like the woman she had been. The lift was horrible and Roger was the star of that show.
I never watched her again, except for a couple of channel switched where I noticed she would ask a question, then interrupt her guest to give her opinion. End of watching.

(11,746 posts)I have no desire to watch her. I'm sure she has nothing to say, that I would find useful.
On the other hand (and please hear me out I'm not a troll) I have always in the back of my mind hoped that there would be reasonable Republicans and that they would take their party back towards the center. There used to be liberal Republicans. Our parties are supposed to be coalitions, not ideological fortresses.
I know this has probably gotten me branded as a "corporatist" or "third way" or whatever. At least that's my best guess as to what certain people have or have not slapped on me. Hey, I'm just a loyal Democrat, as far as I know, and I want Democrats to win elections. But be that as it may, I want a big tent and if Greta rejects the FoxPAC tent and can identify better with us then maybe that's useful to us? Either way: 1) voting Democratic, or 2) working within the Republican Party to moderate the current batshit crazy that the Republicans have morphed into... either way works for me.
But that doesn't mean I have to subject myself to the b.s.

(7,261 posts)Greta said this:
"You know though, I agree with the things you're saying, but I think it's early. You know, I still think that it's early. All of those things sound terrible and horrible, but if the G.D.P.'s up around 4% by the time of the midterms, all bets are off, it's a completely different thing. Because now we have money to fund things. So it sounds really horrible if the election were today, but a lot can happen."
http://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/meet-press-april-2-2017-n741771
It was shocking because she is a lawyer not an economist. I expected her to weigh in on the legal controversies. But she did not.
Plus this is what Trump is telling people he can do - 4%. Mind you the U.S. economy grew at roughly 2 percent in 2015 and last expanded at a 4 percent annual rate in 2000. So you know who Greta is rooting for.

(37,648 posts)So she had cosmetic surgery in an attempt to be more attractive, like almost everyone on tv and in the movies has done (including males). She's not blessed with beauty. Not cool to make fun of her face or her attempts to look more attractive.
And no, her cosmetic surgery didn't change the way she speaks. I remember her from years ago, before the facelift. She has always spoken that way.
