Of course I knew that Cummings had a huge qualifier in his statement.

Trump is all about using people to make himself look great.

He used Mitt in a photo-op at public dinner over snails to neuter any ability of Mitt to criticize Trump in presidency. So when he does it to other people, I say Trump "snailed" them.

Here Cummings probably thought (like most normal people) that he was encouraging Trump to do good things so he would be well thought of - but really Trump is not wired that way. Others must remember this.

Trump only heard the praise from Cummings and knew he would use it against him one day in a very, very public way.

People cannot talk to Trump or about him in a normal way.
