Demand that they INVESTIGATE Trump's Russia ties & collusion
Ask if they will OPPOSE funding for a US/Mexico Wall and OPPOSE funding for a Deportation force in the Budget.
Ask them if they will OPPOSE gutting the EPA and the Dept of Education
Ask them if they will OPPOSE tax cuts for the wealthy in the budget and tax overhaul.
Other issues:
Gerrymandering
Citizens United
Voter Suppression
Healthcare - including healthcare for WOMEN
Immigrants and Refugees
Climate Change
LOTS of issues to confront them with. Pick one or two and organize a visit.
Critique Republicans with MORAL LANGUAGE not left vs right - their policies are WRONG, IMMORAL, UNJUST, UNCHRISTIAN, violation of our moral values, societal values - who we are as a nation. To be MORAL, we must be AGAINST violent public policy.
CALL OUT congresspeople who claim to be Christian - challenge them on moral terms and the silence of white evangelicalism when attacking women, lgbt, people of color, poor, sick - taking care of the least of these?
FILL THE GALLERIES, their offices, town halls and social media with people who will be hurt by their policies. TELL THE STORIES. SHOW the faces of those impacted.
IMMORAL issues: suppression of vote, gerrymandering, against min wage, against immigrants, against refugees, elderly, poor — all are bound together as part of a hateful policy which seeks to protect the wealthiest and white male dominance.
If someone dies due to their policies, PUBLICIZE it - put out photos like Emmett Till’s Mom allowed - MAKE POLITICIANS LOOK at the violence and death their policies cause.
If you have a press conference, an event or organize a visit to your Rep’s offices - notify MEDIA ahead of time - tell them about your event - dates/times.
Have visuals, signs, talking points and prepared statements and a spokesperson ready. Have someone take video and post it on social media, tagging and thanking the media person if they do show up. After the event, send the media person a video or clip or graphic along with a summary (talking points) they can use in reporting their story.
ALSO TAG the representative you're targeting on social media - good or bad. Let the world SEE their behavior and who they really work for - especially if they are failing to represent most Americans -- and most of them are.
