Mar-A-Lago Food Disaster: Trumps Overpriced Club Cited By State For Bad Sushi, Broken Down Coolers

PALM BEACH — Just days before the state visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump‘s private club in Palm Beach, Florida restaurant inspectors found potentially dangerous raw fish and cited the club for storing food in two broken down coolers.

Inspectors found 13 violations at the fancy club’s kitchen, according to recently published documents, a record for an institution that charges $200,000 in initiation fees.

Three of the violations were deemed “high priority,” meaning that they could allow the presence of illness-causing bacteria on plates served in the dining room.

According to their latest visit to the club January 26, state inspectors decided Mar-a-Lago’s kitchen did meet the minimum standards.

as a kid riding by it in the 60's, omg, did I want to go into that wondrous roadside attraction!!

Daddy was a Marine, though, and he ran a tight schedule on road trips, so no, we never stopped (sob)

So finally I'm all grown up, and at age 23 or whatever, some friends and I stop in and WOW what a dung heap, right? Everything smelled, was just barely functional, workers there were soooo depressed...major bummer! - anyhow, dft's kitchen is reminding me of the reality behind the shiny, come-hither front that is propped up by some really depressed kitchen staff, stinking fish and two broken coolers -

PHEW!! Talk about NASTY!

when my folks sped past it in the 50s. About the only thing that guy spent real money on were his billboards, which were everywhere. Like Asshole, he was great on marketing but too cheap to deliver anything.

I never did go there, and I certainly wouldn't have trusted the food, not even as a kid. Peanut butter on Wonder Bread for me, thanks.

While we libs were demonstrating and questioning authority, he was making the big bucks and avoiding the draft. He ran on going back to the good ol days, 50s, 70s, and he appealed to people like himself. I never knew there were so many of them. I bet they love those settings at Mar o Lago.

Way back in the early days I worked food and bar and I had the misfortune to take a job in a country club. I've seen a few skanky kitchens in my time, but honestly, I refused to eat the food there. I saw raw meat being mishandled (over raw fruit and salads!), I saw staff standing in that kitchen smoking a cigarette while standing over food, and I can't count the number of times I broke down food buffets that had been standing unchanged for hours. They had a club policy that members had to spend something like $50 per month in the club on food (or else they'd charge it to them anyway!) I used to joke that the $50 fee was for monthly exposure to salmonella.

By the same token, I have been in commercial kitchens that were absolutely clean in every aspect, and paranoid about keeping it that way. It was fast food.

I have no problem believing that Mir-a-lax-o is a gross kitchen.
