The Bell FC-X
This concept uses what is called "NOTAR" torque control, for "No TAil Rotor" in which thrust is vectored out of the tail boom using vanes on the tail to control the amount of thrust coming from the tail, thus controlling the direction of the centerline of the fuselage. This technology is not new, as McDonnell/Hughes has had this system flying for years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NOTAR There is however, some really interesting new rotor blade technology.

(24,368 posts)They had some scenes in that series that displayed just unbelievable flying skill. All well before the days of current CGI technology.

Back then (Early 80's) I wanted to fly rotary wing so bad I could taste it!
Got --> <-- that close to going in the Army as a Warrant Officer for helicopter flight school. I was ten days away from signing on the dotted line and going to basic then flight school, made a dumb mistake and ..well...that's that.
