Female Justices are interrupted 3x more than their male colleagues

(I saw this because somebody tweeted that Drudge took the story and completely twisted it to say that female Justices were the ones who interrupted 3x more, instead of reporting that they were the ones being interrupted.)

https://www.google.com/amp/www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/female-supreme-court-justices-interrupted-more-male-colleagues-study/

..."While justices sometimes cut each other off, lawyers are never supposed to the way Rein then did with Sotomayor.

“Then holistic percentage, whatever it is, is going to be virtually all white,” Sotomayor said.

“And that is incorrect,” Rein interrupted.

“All white,” Sotomayor continued.

“And that is an assumption,” Rein said as she tried to say no.
"That has no basis in this record,” he finished.

“Here we have subordinates, clear subordinates, i.e. lawyers, interrupting justices who have reached the highest pinnacle of a very high status profession,” Jacobi says. ".........(more)

in every aspect of business. I'm female and I interrupt people. I'm sure it's noticed more than it would be if I were male.

This "study" is by someone who knows nothing about Supreme Court procedures. The comma's in Sotomayor's comments do not exist in oral argument. It may well be that Sotomayor speaks in slow or measured phrases and the lawyer thought she had completed her thought when he spoke.

Both sentences by Sotomayor in the OP are complete thoughts and sentences. It would be very natural to offer a counter argument after them. When lawyers participate in oral arguments before the SC they have an extremely limited time to get their arguments out. And they are routinely interrupted by the Justices in mid-sentence.

Which is a whole lot different than the coffee shop cited at your link of "decades of research and observation". I am pretty sure female SC Justices can handle themselves would be insulted with people comparing them to coffee shop customers.

Yours are some rather creative allegations... though lacking objective evidence to support them. I can understand why you'd rationalize it as such... your consistent narrative requires it of you.

"But a new study, co-authored by Northwestern Law professor Tonja Jacobi, suggests it might be more familiar than you’d think."

No one argued that there weren't interruptions. What was studied was the number of interruptions based on sex of the Justice, and with enough data that should be a fairly easy thing to "prove."

It brings to mind the study they did about interrupting during the presidential debates.

As a man I'd never noticed it until a few years ago when I read about how common a phenomena it is. Once you start watching for it happening, it happens ALL THE FUCKING TIME. One of many examples of where I feel ashamed of many of my own gender.
