Do you think McTurtle and crew would just give him carte blanche? I think they would, and that's why he isn't even asking.

(52,243 posts)but if he does it without approval, congress's only real recourse is impeachment and removal. donnie only needs a majority in the house *or* 1/3rd of the senate to stay in.
so it's true, it's a lot easier to get forgiveness than permission.
of course, republicans being the partisan sh!ts that they are, of course they'll give donnie permission to bomb anyone anywhere.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,719 posts)Bush's Iraq debacle was not good for the GOP (W didn't even appear at their 2008 convention), and they might be a little more cautious about giving an even more incompetent president permission to start another predictably messy war with no exit strategy.

(17,984 posts)He's been able to get away with murder (literally) so far with his minor operations. NK is a whole other matter. So he postures and riles Kim Jong Un hoping for an excuse to launch a retaliatory attack. But I am not sure he hasn't discussed this strategy with a few members of the GOP. I would not put it past McTurtle and Ryan to have devised a plan with tRump that would force congress's hand. If some members of congress are about to be swept up in the collusion scandal, they might just opt for the distraction of war as a better alternative to prison.

Trump is more avoidant of that circumstance than anything else. Trust me, he cares.
