ALL people are welcome in the Democratic party.

We welcome all those who back social justice, economic justice, want peace, green values, a country in which all who live here are welcome and all should be treated with dignity and respect

Whether they are left of center, center or right of center. All such people should be encouraged to join us and fight for the country we deserve and the world we need.

It's about working together. It's not about appeasement but it does require compromise as is the case in any group of people.

We are not going to increase our vote share by treating people we could work with as untrustworthy and driving them away. Or by calling them names.

Also not going to increase our vote share by refusing to compromise or discuss. No my way or the highway. No, I am not voting for a Democrat if they don't agree with me on everything. If you join in to make the sausage - you darn well are a sausage maker.

Those who are to our left or right now - who later decide they won't support the Democratic candidate, because that person does not fulfill every element of their wish list. We will not appease them.

We can gain the additional votes we need by making it clear that this is a structure within which you can work for real change.

Victory requires inclusion. Nothing but defeat comes of exclusion.

Victory requires convictions as well.

I realize how clever we feel about ourselves when we shout a simple-minded bumper sticker and pretend it to be wisdom, but unless one supports the Democratic platform, I really don't want to be associated with them in the political arena.

"Nothing but defeat comes of exclusion..."
Is that simply another commercial bumper sticker, or can you support that allegation and deny its corollary with objective evidence?

1. you play by the rules set out in this arbitrary post by some unknown, anonymous "Democrat" who has decided what IS and what APPLIES; and

2. you remember that there is one set of rules for being a "Democratic" voter and a whole different set of rules for office holders keeping a Democratic seat warm for the party.

The founding fathers would want it that way.

You post in your title "ALL (in CAPS even) people are welcome in the Democratic party."

Then in the very first sentence of the OP you add qualifiers. Do you see a contradiction there? It doesn't appear very intelligent. But maybe I just place too much importance on words, and not feelings.

Not necessary to be insulting though - could have just asked.

Posted as counter statement to another OP that suggested that only center left people care about such things.

"ALL people are welcome ..." vs

"We welcome all those who ..."

That's not a qualifier?

OK, if you say so. I can kinda see why you did that.
