From a Facebook friend in Germany:
"Wake up America!
Hey, what's up with you, American friends?! Europe is discussing since weeks why you aren't able to kick this idiot from his chair...as the most powerful nation in the world! We really don't want to be in your skin right now. It can happen even today or Easter while he can't ask the congress ...while he is eating chocolate cake and playing golf. Do you want to send thousands of your children to war again? Europe was proud of your strength. You saved Europe from our regime in 1945. Now you are just writing letters and do your calls?! Your resistence is almost dead now! Please now! The world is in danger! Tons of love from Europe. Greg

(4,558 posts)My personal favorite is SkyNews international, but BBC world is also pretty good.
There are several things one will notice when looking at the international news scene:
* They're not entertaining, ratings driven, or click-bait. They are about news.
* The news stories are more complete, more factual, and more informative.
* They lay out the facts of the news story without attempt to drive a narrative about it.
* You'll find facts and concerns from around the world, and not just from the US perspective.
Just as an example in watching the news this morning; I've watched about an hour of CNN, an hour of MSNBC, 5 minutes of Fox News, and 2 hours of Sky News. The stories of each broken down:
1. CNN - typical sensationalistic production. excited and emotional acting by the casts. dramatic music. Toting the potential for all out war with Korea is the primary headline.
2. MSNBC - Rachel Maddow show was on. Pure politics. Anti-Trump/Republican. Is a guilty pleasure for me because it's news from a political point of view that I personally share. However, it's not objective, and it's not just about facts but about presenting the facts in a way that best supports a narrative.
3. Fox news - Fox and friends - Totally pro-Rump narrative. Sounding the war horns for Trump to stay strong on North Korea even if it means war. Talk about how great #45 is handling China, and how it's really showing how great #45 is at handling international affairs. 5 minutes was about all I could stand.
4. Sky News - North Korea is also the headline. Reports facts of US, North Korea, South Korea, China statements, and viewpoints from leadership in other countries around the globe. Reporting on the UN measures being considered. Was the only news source of the group that also reported major happenings in Turkey and the extended powers about to be voted on for President Erdogon and the hopes and fears of the people of Turkey as well as regional leadership responses and positions. Again all done with just the facts, no bias. Additional segments on the major news story from every continent on the globe.
What's really interesting about the SkyNews angle.. when you remove the hyperbole, bias, and outright ratings whore sensationalism of US journalism/news networks, you REALLY get to see just how much of a threat to global relations the current US administration is.
Another interesting tidbit that's not really related to politics, but SkyNews international is the only one that made me aware of flooding in California right now, and showed flooding in Fresno.

(86,586 posts)France24... good one in the CNN sort of format only far informative in all their reporting, the ads are few and announced at either end so you know when they start and end, they also have documentary series that focus on major and current issues that run as part of the daily schedule. One thing I did notice during the election was that they had some republican hacks on from time to time who weren't challenged on their statements as much as they should have been.

(111,255 posts)and will also tell you national news that broadcast news is too celebrity obsessed to tell you about--like that flooding in California.
I have completely given up on broadcast news, it's worse than worthless, it's all propaganda and lies by omission. I haven't tuned in since 2004 except for 5 minutes of CNN when I was hospitalized 2 years ago and decided boredom was better.
Broadcast "news" is killing this country, making people think they're informed when they're definitely not.
If you require to be spoon fed "news" in sound bites, I'm sorry. If you want to be informed, an online subscription to one of the better newspapers will do a much better job.

(28,270 posts)And here we have the MSM cheer leading Dump's warmongering and bluster that could end in a nuclear exchange and the horrible deaths of untold hundreds of thousands if not millions.
The news media sold us out. Its all BS propaganda. They will justify nuclear war, killing social security, medicare, meals on wheels, fuck anything that benefits the common people of this country.
They serve their MIC/republican masters well that's for damn sure.

(111,255 posts)We could kick our idiots out every 4 years while you still had divine right kings who had to be carried out feet first so you could get rid of them.
Our system was written for a world that proceeded more slowly and our rapid change of leaders shocked that world for a very long time. Now that system can respond to lunatics in office, but it takes time to build a solid case that will get them out despite total support from their own parties. We don't respond as quickly as parliamentary systems because we don't have that system. While that has been a liability in some administrations, it has conferred remarkable stability in others. For instance, Obama, our first African American president, would have been pitched out of office quickly by a Republican Congress had the process not been so cumbersome.
Even now our Asshole is having his wings slowly clipped as his most trusted advisors have been picked off as Russian operatives. He is being isolated and once isolated, I do think he will be gone. Either he will resign or he will be impeached and removed.
Have patience. We know he is insane. We defeated him in the popular election. He has no mandate and little popular support left, despite his preening and posturing.
This too shall pass, as anyone who has ever been constipated knows.
