Deep down you're a calm, gentle spirit that seeks balance and beauty. Your inner spirituality is rooted in a "going with the flow" approach that enables you to easily endure life's dramatic ups and downs.
Zen emphasizes rigorous meditation-practice, insight, and awakening the individual Buddha nature."

Quakers (or Friends) are members of a group of religious Christian movements which is known as the Religious Society of Friends. Quakers believe that truth is continuously revealed directly to individuals from God. Quakers often focus on trying to hear, the inner, still voice of God. Pacifism, social justice and peace making are important elements of the Quaker religious experience. "
Pretty cool, I think.

I went to a Quaker meeting, once, just to try it out.

(20,746 posts)It was a bottom-up community-based experience, where everyone was considered worth listening to.
So, there were probably lots of non-believers in the quaker pews. They had nowhere else to go.
Ms. Toad
(34,114 posts)Early Quakers were very christo-centric. Everyone was considered worth listening to because Christ could choose to speak to the gathered body through any of individual, regardless of age, gender, education, etc.
Today there are lots of hyphen quakers, including atheist-quakers.

This is a small example of why I usually don't bother with on-line quizzes, because invariably they do not give enough options in many of the questions.

When my wild west grandma died she left some explicit instructions about how her body ought to be disposed of.
The funeral home asked, "She's Jewish?"
My mom was like "what?"
The only religion my grandma's wild west family ever claimed was "NOT MORMON!"
My mom's dad's adolescent dream was to sell gasoline, booze and French postcards to the guys, prohibition be damned.
My mom's parents landed as World War II West Coast shipyard welders. My grandma was so damned good with hot metal they didn't let her go when the war ended. I suspect metal vapor poisoning was a small part of her craziness.

(25,684 posts)For the first one my instant thought was that it was the Sistine Chapel, nothing else. Which answer to choose then? I didn't recognize Jesus, had to get the magnifying glass to check if it was indeed the Jesus section. Jesus is looking good, he's been working out in heaven. Why does Mary look nervous? I've forgotten the story. Must've missed that day in art history class. I can't even remember the original Bible stories about Jesus. I'm losing my memory, and evidently my eyesight is ready to go with it. So in the end I chose Jesus because he's in the center of the thing and should be noticed first.
Second one all I could think of was recalling the name of that Hindu sect or group or what. Couldn't. Then I thought that probably the ash on their faces keeps away flies. That must be a problem in hot weather when you're outside a lot. Do those holy men have toilets or do they just go anywhere? What if they have to pee while they're meditating -- do they just hold it until they have to go really bad? Now I can't even remember which answer I chose for that one. My mind is like a sieve these days. Jesus.
And the spiritual guidance one? I don't even know exactly what "spiritual" means. I picked Hawkings even though I've never read a word he's written. If we're talking philosophical guidance, though, I'd know instantly who to choose: Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm.
So anyway, that quiz was hard because it made me think too much.

(The pictures of the food were so small, I couldn't see what most of it was)
And the Sistine Chapel fresco they have all that writing all over it, so you can't help but notice a muscular shirtless guy, who I assume is Jesus smack dab center of the thing.

Your subconscious spirituality is rooted in thinking basketball is a piss-poor substitute for ōllamaliztli, and although you have doubts when nobles talk about an eagle on a cactus eating a snake being a sign from the gods to build Tenochitlan, you're extremely proud that your culture invented chocolate. Your greatest hope is to be accepted into the Jaguar Warriors (because the Eagle ones are pussies), but you'll praise Quetzalcoatl no matter what.

(14,858 posts)some of the questions differently because I wasn't too committed to the previous ones (like the last question which I thought was almost meaningless).
Also interesting to me...
When I answered dishonestly, trying to imitate both conservatives and "social liberals" in a stereotypical way, the results were that I was a "Born Again Christian" and a "Peaceful Quaker" respectively.
For the conservative result, I answered the questions about people in a distrustful and hateful way. To get the "social liberal" result, I answered the questions about people from other cultures in a more embracing way rather than my previous intellectually curious way (which gave Zen Buddhist results).

I have white coat syndrome so I practice breathing when my blood pressure is being taken...my pressure got so low, they paged the doctor and brought in a crash cart...when I explained to them what I was doing they just stared at me in disbelief...called my doctor who explained it to them...very funny.
