Two more months of Trump's mishap-of-the-day.
Two more months of the drip drip on Russian collusion.
Potentially several Trump campaign operatives under FBI indictment by then.
A possible government shutdown on April 28, that will dominate the news.
And now Karen Handel has joined herself at the hip of Donald Trump, asking for his help.
The environment for Republicans not going to be better in two months and it is now. In fact, it will likely be much much worse.

(5,807 posts)the runoff will see contributions, volunteers, and continued excitement. I'm in Georgia 6 and it's an exciting place to be now. People are opening their homes, having parties, doing what they can. The theme I see, other than politics, is that white people in the South don't have to be creepy. I love it.

(56,848 posts)they spent over $8 million in a few months and now have another 2 months till the runoff election, so Handel will likely be getting Koch and NRA money and ads to support her candidacy.

(259 posts)I agree that he really needs to tie both of them together. I would also like to see him be more vocal on his populist positions (minimum wage as living wage, strengthen healthcare, fight corruption, etc.).

(11,203 posts)Policies like phasing out social security and Medicare. Policies like tax cuts to the wealthy while decreasing funding for education (including higher education), cutting environmental regulation, privatizing infrastructure, etc. Explain his desires for the district he will represent, the one he grew up in and personally knows. Continue to mention the memories of the good things that happened there during his youth and how to bring those back and/or improve upon them. Mention the good and bad changes in the area and his realistic vision for the region if he is given the opportunity to represent all of the people of the district. He needs to inspire enough of the GOP leaning voters that voted for someone other than Handel that voting for him is the right thing to do for the district.

(16,104 posts)Last night was interesting, but the Democrat did not win.
If 2016 taught us one thing, it should be Republicans will vote for the Republican - period. Nothing will change that.
Time to move on.

(3,714 posts)When the Dem was going up against - what was it, 17 Repubs in the initial vote? - I hoped that the 17 R'pubs would split the vote enough to get the Dem in from the get-go.
But, now that it's a singe Dem against a single Repub, I thing the Repub will win because people will vote pretty much party affiliation - even in the face of the worst president in US history.
