(Ossof IS), and that being a Democrat doesn't make you progressive.

Maybe this is a sign of Bernie's age. When he was young there were liberal Republicans and conservative Democrats; but in the current era that is so partisan, all Dems are far apart from all Rethugs on the political spectrum -- even though there might be deviations on particular issues here and there (like progressive Bernie's support for gun rights and for the campaign of Heath Mello, an anti-abortion Dem).

It was a nasty thing to say about a progressive running a key race:

http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/329559-sanders-i-dont-know-if-ossoff-is-progressive

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) says he doesn't know whether Democratic congressional candidate Jon Ossoff, who came in first Tuesday in a closely watched Georgia special election, is a progressive.

“I don’t know,” he said Tuesday in Louisville, Ky., The Wall Street Journal said Wednesday. “If you run as a Democrat, you’re a Democrat.”

“Some Democrats are progressive, and some Democrats are not,” the 2016 presidential candidate added.

Sanders refused to help in the Georgia race and is not turning over his e-mail list. It is difficult to understand why the party should be remade into Sanders image when he declares that he is not a Democrat.

YMMV

The only reason to keep this list is to preserve the power of Sanders to run as a third party candidate at some point. The idiots on JPR are really pushing for Sanders to run as a third party in order to hurt the Democratic Party

In the meantime, Bernie questions whether Ossoff is progressive -- while admitting that he doesn't even know what Ossoff's policies are.

It seems that Bernie gives himself latitude to deviate from progressive policies that he would never accept from someone else.

It's also not helpful that he is the face of offshoot groups that are actively running against Democrats and the Democratic Party.

If anyone needs to move on, it's Bernie.

That did not help.

Honestly it doesn't bother me he remains an independent because we know where his heart is and his heart is with us. All this talk of him going third party is nonsense. I think it is great that he is issue oriented and wants to help the party. I think we need him and his base.

Yes the primary was bitter and I was angry as were people on both sides, but he was trying to win and that is politics. I am not looking to rehash that but I think if you want to be a huge player in the party you must do the hard work.

Some are obviously far too caught up in the 'cuteness' of his age, assigning to him the kind of adoration once reserved for a favorite childhood teddie bear.

He isn't a Democrat and his constant implication that being a Democrat is for losers helps keep things in a state of stasis.
