"Room with a View"
Shot in the Sonoran Desert, west of Tucson. I shot this through a 1905 wavy-glass window from my Greenville, SC, house. Just happened to have it in my truck!

"Moon over East Butte"
East Butte fire lookout shot from China Hat Butte. I was at the back of my truck, hearing a mountain lion close by. My relief guy at the lookout and I were talking by cell phone. He cranked up the gaslights for my shoot.

(6,161 posts)The third one really strikes me.
The square format makes me think it would make a great album cover. I am showing my age to actually remember when cover art mattered.
Nice work!

(26,447 posts)In 1967 I was bassman for a big band, the Auburn Knights. We were holed up making an album, and the recording engineer cut us for a break so that he could go out with his Nikon and shoot a full eclipse of the moon. At that point, I suggested that our album be called "Full Eclipse."
His pics were great. That was our album cover. "Total Eclipse."
True story.

(26,447 posts)I won an Emmy for a PBS documentary. It is the real deal! Probably the only Emmy ever hiked into a wilderness fire lookout tower for presentation!

Is that a US forest service shirt? I worked on an assignment with them for 15 months in DC

(26,447 posts)But I was one of the original DU members. April 2001.
But I have been around! I flew 250+ air combat missions in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. I was editor of a major international aviation magazine. I was an airline accident investigator (ALPA), and an airline captain.
And I was a US Forest Service fire lookout for eight seasons. I am taking 2017 off, to be with my 16 year old dog in his last years. That is a Coronado National Forest Fire Batallion 55 shirt.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
