(203 posts)that paragraph is my own take.

(110,261 posts)so that it's clear it's your opinion. (See at the bottom right, where it says, "Edit post"?)
Thanks for posting this! It's important.

(203 posts)It doesn't seem to let me edit it.
The excerpt tags aren't even showing around my text. It's strange.

(110,261 posts)If not, maybe ask the ATA what's going on.

(65,914 posts)I am a Democrat and love what Bernie stands for. While I am a Democrat, I have my own mind also. As a Bernie supporter, my goal is to make the party stronger and not tear it down.

(203 posts)How do we stop them?

(65,914 posts)My advice is to just keep focusing on Trump and not worry - Bernie and many other supporters have far more influence.
WomenRising2017
(203 posts)Why is he critical of candidates like Ossof?
Why is he bashing Democrats while excusing Trump?
How is any of the above, helpful?

(65,914 posts)We don't see eye to eye on this at all. I don't agree with the whole premise of your post, so I will not answer.

(65,914 posts)It was not very helpful to begin with, and now you said things about Bernie that he didn't even do. I was willing to reply until that.
WomenRising2017
(203 posts)I don't see how we can move forward though, until you are willing to address current happenings.

Oh, never mind.

(9,870 posts)...so tiresome. Every day there's a new one. Same old reasons over and over without an ounce of actually examining why Dems have not held the State Houses, or local offices.

(14,971 posts)The only people who gain anything from this are Trump and the GOP.

(368 posts)He was standing up for me when it wasn't popular. All of my gay friends are Bernie supporters too. Democrats would be wise to listen to him since he has a good message and tons of followers/grassroots support. We should welcome him and his supporters.
WomenRising2017
(203 posts)Republicans not so much.
We need to elect more Democrats, and less Republicans.
Bernie does have a good message, but it's based more on economics and less of civil rights. We can do both.

(21,786 posts)I've always voted for Democratic candidates because the USA is a very right-wing country and it's the option on the ballot that represents the least-bad realistic choice. Doesn't mean it's the one I'd make if I had better options.
WomenRising2017
(203 posts)Republicans and Democrats.
Voting against a Democrat is a vote for a Republican.
Spider Jerusalem
(21,786 posts)"I've always voted for Democratic candidates". RIGHT fucking there. Thanks for playing, though!

(21,786 posts)unless you think not actually reading what I wrote and replying to something I didn't say is polite, that is.

(21,786 posts)"I've always voted for Democratic candidates" means your stupid lecture is POINTLESS, because I GET IT. Either you're too dense to process that, or you didn't actually read what I wrote. There's not a middle ground, there.

(203 posts)I do not want a coalition that isn't supportive of civil rights. And I'm not alone.
Spider Jerusalem
(21,786 posts)or LGBT rights, or women's rights, or the rights of people of colour to not be brutalised by police, etc, but you know, if you want to elect Democrats in red states you have to realise that getting someone who agrees with 60% or 80% of the party platform and will vote with the party on major issues is an important thing. If the voters of a particular state or a particular district or what have you are going to elect an anti-abortion, pro-gun candidate no matter what then I'd rather it were a Democrat than a Republican, on balance, in terms of ability to set a broader agenda (and because electing Democrats in red states is something that helps shift the Overton Window, if only slightly).

(9,870 posts)Wow. I guess any wild statement goes.
Bernie would never abandon civil rights. Ever. Immigrants, refugees, POC, women, elders, students would all do better than they ever have under Bernie's programs, if only the entire party would unite behind them and fight for them as he does.
Please let's not get into the Mello kerfuffle. I'm a pro-choice woman but understand quite well the political calculus required in such a conservative area and what it will take to get a Democrat in there and turn it blue. That would be an earthquake.

(203 posts)There is a whole movement set up for you.
It's called "No Labels".
Join it if you wish to. But keep in mind you are not helping Democrats by doing so.
Civil rights are being stripped away. I'm fighting to stop that. You fight for your priorities.
