Report: Trump gave $10 million in Russian money to Jason Chaffetz when he leaked FBI letter

Now that Jason Chaffetz has announced he won’t seek reelection to Congress and has revealed that he may resign early to take a job in the private sector (link), it’s given credence to last week’s report that Russia has been blackmailing Chaffetz and the FBI knows about it. That’s also bolstered by last night’s report that a former Chaffetz staffer has confirmed the FBI investigation. But now comes another report which – if true – helps explain much of what took place during the 2016 presidential election.

The latest report comes from Lisa Garner from the site Reason and Justice, who claims that the Jason Chaffetz campaign “took $10mil donation from Trump the same day he leaked Comey letter” (link), a claim which Daily Kos is presenting as plausible (link). This may initially sound absurd, and we can’t yet find the claim corroborated elsewhere, but it does fit with some of the other details coming from more proven sources. For instance the former Chaffetz staffer asserts that the FBI is investigating him for “campaign finance fraud” (link). And last week’s report asserted that the “fraud” in question involved Russia (link). Put those together and you have Chaffetz being busted by the FBI for illegally taking Russian money.

They are looking for more corroboration. Boy would this explain a lot.

These days it has become ever more apparent there is no such thing as completely unbiased reporting. The days of trusted news professionals like Walter Cronkite are long gone.

We live in a era where the media figures are celebrities. As we saw with O'Reilly, the ratings and the advertisement dollars mean far more than anything else. That means to me that the motives of every "news" organization are to always be questioned and taken into account.

Maybe I was a naive child and person but it didn't seem to be that way years ago before cable news and 24-hour news.

There must be a formula we can come up with that others can follow to have more trust in what gets printed. Something like trust nothing unless it can be corroborated by at least two sources that represent the opposing viewpoint.

In other words, don't trust a right-wing source unless it's supported by at least two left-wing sources, and vice-versa. But that would require us to label every outlet left or right-wing. In the case of the PalmerReport, which doesn't seem to have a solid foundation in either direction, it needs to be supported by 1 left-wing source AND 1 right-wing source.

Or something like that. I just think it's important to come up with something that might give the rabid followers of Trumpism cause to reflect.

The question is, who else took Russian money in that treasonous Republican contingent in Congress?

Mitch McConnell? Paul Ryan? Devin Nunes? Rand Paul?

Start with the folks that stonewalled the most. Continue with the cretins whose policy shifts regarding Russian protectionism indicate a pay-off.

How far will this lead? Who are the traitors in our midst?

If this investigation is allowed to proceed without disruption - a VERY big if - what will be left of the Republican Party?

there are - 'no traitors'.

Too much unaccounted for money is out there and at stake. People are being bought off and other people are being put into place to sweep all this under the rug. We are being swindled people. We should be used to it by now.

to launch a House Oversight Committee investigation into the Rusian connection to the 2016 Election. That the possibility that he could have been bought off.

I also find it interesting that Jason Chaffetz so eloquently opined that after the 2005 Access Hollywood tape came out, that he could not support, let alone vote for, Donald Trump. Perhaps he looked his daughter in the eyes and told her what he did anyway. I call that being a Hypocrite.

Or that the conscience of Jason Chaffetz finally caught up with him? Mormon guilt? The phone lines are open.

If there is any scandal around Chaffetz it would have been exposed long ago and that goes for female trouble too.
He's quitting because he has ambitions for higher office.. either governor or Senator or even President.
He's an egotistical right wing nut.
