watching this show whenever they were at their grandparents because grandpa would always watch the never-ending reruns. Whenever a situation arises that demands response and leadership I do my Andy Griffith sherriff thing. I ask myself what is the right thing to do, and/or what is the good thing to do, and/or what is the fair thing to do? That to me was the underlying value system of the Andy Griffith Show. He will always be remembered for the good that he was and did.

And it is a beautiful, nostalgic recording that reveals his faith in an afterlife. Old hymns. I find it comforting and reminiscent of a simpler time when grandpas weren't teabaggers, but good good people.

Maybe growing up with Andy Griffith show is one reason I chose to retire in "Mayberry".
