A stoic Ms. Reid wasn't buying what they were selling.
In a shattering interview, Allen and Parnes dropped their grins and desperately tried to seem objective and measured while insisting that their book of anonymously sourced juicy tidbits is serious work of political analysis. "That's why everyone needs to buy it," a panicked, yet profit-driven Allen explained to a stone-faced Joy.
I'm not sure which I liked better, the full on stare or the skeptical side-eye.
I respect them tho, still i haven't read it yet so I reserve judgment. Charles Pierce had a brilliant take on it all lol. He called political consultants "vipers"

(18,238 posts)Clinton's actual team and the paid political consultants who she hired to work for her.
For example, there were consultants in Michigan who immediately threw "Clinton insiders" under the bus in the week following the general election. It wasn't our fault!
Their major concern was how a blue state going red on their watch would look on their resumes and how they could spin the loss in a way that would minimize the damage to their marketability.
Those "campaign sources" who dished gossip and betrayed confidences have an ulterior motive that goes well beyond any questions as to how the candidate and her team managed the campaign. Of course they don't want their names known. They can't be trusted.
