Pinboy3niner died
Nobody was a better friend and a bigger supporter when I was running for office...so I came to know his personal name, we talked and we were friends on facebook, and I had to ask there.
I'm not sure of date yet, but there will be a service in Lancaster Ca....
Cancer took this good, good man.
His Du friends loved him and he loved them back.
I just found out from a pastor there...

I think a few puns in his honor, done respectfully would be the highest tribute we could pay our favorite pun-dit. I have nothing BUT respect for that guy. I matched wits with him in "pun-fights" more than a few times here on DU, and he ALWAYS came out on top! He was THE BEST, bar none! God, I will miss him! I never met him, wouldn't know him from Adam, but I will always remember his unparalleled wit and humor! Rest in Peace, Pinboy3Niner, and may they carry you out feet-first.* And thank you for your service to country, and for making DU a so-much-more pun pla--I mean FUN place!

Once a pun was thrown out I always knew he'd be there soon and would wait for his great input. You are right he was the Pun King for sure. 
Such a good and funny man. He is missed here.
He is absolutely one of my all-time favorite DUers and cannot be replaced.
I am devastated to learn this, but thank you for letting us know.

I was rather new as a member at the time and that made me notice him! I laughed so hard at that, when I really needed a laugh in the most intense way.

I had a bad feeling about a week ago when I looked to see if there were a response to Malaise's callout a while back.
I was concerned when the shouout went out... I suspect it may have been a result of his service that he contracted cancer. Most of my Vietnam Vet friends are dying of cancer.

I knew he had health problems, but didn't know how serious. He wasn't one to complain. I feared the worst when we sent out a "search party" for him last year.... and he has been missing on DU again for about a month. I think there was even a recent "Where is...?" thread. He was so surprised and touched by our concern for him.
He was one of a kind for sure and we will miss him terribly. I believe he knew how much we all cared about him. This is a terrible day.

I liked Pinboy3niner very much, and even had a couple of pleasant PM exchanges with him. He represented the very best of DU. When interactions here got vicious and stupid--as they have been a lot lately--I looked to him as a source of both wisdom and mirth. I sure will miss him.

I'm glad that he was able to pun up until the end.
He had hinted in a political post encouraging millennials to get involved because he would not be around long enough to be politically active, however, I just chalked it up to older age.
He was the best.

He was supportive of so many here. I will always remember the efforts he made to try to come to MFM's memorial, how I wish he would have made it so I could have met him in person. He will be missed by so many.

I remember one time he defended me, on here. I had posted something from twitter, and had no idea the source was bad, and people questioned my loyalty to the party. I been a Democrat ever since I could vote and would never change... but some one thought I was a Trump Troll... meh, glad that is over.
