"Stealthing" is a new term to me. It refers to the nonconsensual act of a man secretly removing his condom during sex.
A report by the Columbia Journal of Gender and Law details the growth of this trend. "Lead author Alexandra Brodsky argues that stealthing..." is a form of sexual assault and should be treated as such."
This article, from the New York Post, brings important information and I encourage DUers to read it:

(2,809 posts)NY post isn't fit for the bottom of a bird cage. I'd take anything they said with a grain of salt and 4 on Sunday. But if this is the one time a day that broken clock is right I'll say that's some real bullshit to do.

(25,046 posts)Mostly, I agree with you regarding the NY Post. Their political bent is seen in far too much of their "news" reporting. However, some aspects of the paper are not infected with their right-wing virus. The Sports section is exceptional and their coverage of theater and other arts tends to be strong.
In this case, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt because the article is about a serious study published in the Columbia Journal of Gender and Law. Here's the link to the study's abstract which can link you to the full study itself:

In any event, it would be hard to imagine a second date if the scoundrel pulled a stunt like that.

(19,491 posts)The article does not present any real evidence that this practice is increasing in frequency, all that is presented are some case studies of women who experienced this. The primary focus of the article is a proposal to expand civil and criminal remedies for men who do this.

I can't think of too many things more stupid and revolting. You can catch an STI, you can impregnate your partner and be liable for 18-21 years of support payments and of course, you are then engaging in non-consensual sex making you a rapist.

(76,635 posts)Thanks, PJ. Don't know why i didn't think of "disgusting" in the first place.

(25,046 posts)Perverse, weird and slimy (double-entendre?) all apply to this peculiar behavior.
Enjoy your afternoon, ProfessorGAC!

(67,084 posts)If the victim wouldn't have consented to sex without a condom, then it's clearly rape by deception, and it should be prosecuted as such.

(25,046 posts)The author makes clear that there doesn't seem to be a legal definition for this behavior and part of the purpose of the study is to determine how to change the applicable laws.
I'm glad that she's studying this, because it's certainly consistent with the definition of rape, even if laws don't currently treat as such. The same would arguably be true if a man fraudulently gains consent by claiming to be sterile (which happened to a woman I know).

(25,046 posts)I have a friend who had a similar experience. She and her husband were married for about three years when she wanted to start a family. He had never revealed that he had had a vasectomy. The deceit ended their marriage.

(25,046 posts)I hadn't heard of this behavior before. It's rather repulsive. There's also a component to this story that I find confusing:
If these men want to ride bareback for the pleasure, at least that makes sense even though it's absolutely inexcusable. But to "spread one's seed?" What the hell does that even mean? Do these men want to impregnate the women they are defrauding? Do these criminals assume that the condom is the only birth control the women use? If so, they are really stupid as well as scum.
But then, there are many things people do to have sex that I don't comprehend. For example, the use of date rape drugs. Who wants to have sex with someone who's unconscious? And wouldn't one like to leave the door open for a repeat performance?
Oh, by the way, it's off-topic but Donald Trump is an idiot.
