The evolution of the Trump/China relationship.
"Behind every great fortune is a great crime", someone once said.
If we recall, Donald Trump came into office talking up Taiwan and wasn't real sure about the "one-China" policy? It was very controversial for a few days. In hindsight, this was the first example of his negotiating foreign policy, as if it was a business transaction.
What did he want in China? He had been trying for a decade or more to get licensed in China to do business there. But none had ever been approved.
Until he became President.
Then, he decided that he was in favor of the status quo China policy and, in return, China rewarded him with 35 different licenses. He had a license to do business in construction and banking and financial markets and shipbuilding and building hotels and resorts and escort services, etc. He finally had access after all those years.
Of course, his daughter Ivanka got three licenses to do business in China, also.
Could there be a conflict of interest? Could there be nepotism involved?
Could there be a quid pro quo?
Since he has already negotiated the deal, perhaps Don Jr can handle it from here forward?
