Senator Enzi told a group of middle school and high schools We always say that in Wyoming you can be just about anything you want to be, as long as you dont push it in somebodys face, and then went on some sort of tangent about guys wearing tutus in bars. Something I was unaware of that must happen often in Wyoming or something
Anyway, I talked to this very nice woman in his office and told her, "I for one wish to let the senator know of my unwavering support for what the senator said. I am in 100% agreement with him."
She thanked me.
Then I said, "I for one am sick and tired of people thrusting stuff in my face in public when I just want to be left alone. I cannot tell you the number of times I've been some place and there are people with their big printed shirts and their signs telling us how much they love Jesus and how we need to repent, or some other religious thingy. Talk about invasive. I've been on subway trains and buses and stuff and some person begins preaching to all there about his or her faith in God and how we're all going to hell if we don't repent. It's about time someone said what most of us think and that's 'You can be just about anything as long as you don't push it in my face."
She then told me Enzi believes in people having a right to their faith and doesn't find them at all intrusive and hung up on me.

(17,003 posts)It's not pushing as long as it conforms to standard 1950's judao-Christian doctrine. Stupid little shits.

(51,584 posts)I saw Ron Reagan jr. on a TV commercial representing Freedom From Religion in Politics and donated $25. I believe in the US Constitution and I recall separation of church and state being written in there someplace. Is this correct? I received a free "gift" of a newsletter/ paper and was about to throw it out since it was completely white with no print or photo. Out of curiosity I opened it on the way to the trash and saw who it was from and kept it. Why is it OK for a publication to considered "bad" and kept under wraps if it is affiliated with atheists? If it were from the KKK it probably would've had giant, bold print in bright colors on the front. Our society is so backwards compared to many who are not nearly as "advanced".
