I didn't believe this when the news first broke . Schlussel is a right winger but has some problem with hannity going back a few years. her recent accusations were questionable and she retracts after hannity threatens to sue her for lying about him.
Schlussel actually reminds me of Donald Trump in the way she attacks others and comes off unstable and emotionally a wreck. and she is fucking nasty and hateful.
good thing this was over quick since people would have used it put doubt on others who actually are telling the truth .
<Conservative commentator Debbie Schlussel is now clarifying that she is not accusing Fox News host Sean Hannity of sexual harassment, but rather of simply being weird and creepy.
Hannity has threatened to sue Schlussel as a result of her claims, a response that Schlussel told LawNews was laughable, adding that she may countersue Hannity for statements he made in response to her, including calling her a serial harasser.
In his statement, Hannity said that Schlussel has a history of making provably false statements against me in an effort to slander, smear and besmirch my reputation. The individual has not just slandered me over the years but many people who this individual disagrees with.
As Schlussel told LawNews, Its defamatory. Everything I said was true, and truth is an absolute bar to defamation. He on the other hand has a murky record on truth.>

(51,557 posts)She now claims it was just "creepy" behavior. But if what she says Hannity did is true (and she continues to insist it is), it is a classic case of sexual harassment and retaliation.
He used his position at the network to pressure her for sex. The invite to his hotel room wasn't to play checkers. Then he abruptly stopped using her on air after she turned him down. That's retaliation.
BTW, being simply "creepy" at work can get you in trouble too. Even if you are not pressuring someone for sex, a jury could determine the creepiness (sexual innuendos, sexist jokes, ogling of women, etc.) created a "hostile work environment" entitling the victim to damages.
When you're at work, you're supposed to act professional and respect your colleagues. It's work, not a pickup bar.

(1,714 posts)that it was not to his ROOM, but to his hotel, which presumably has a bar and/or restaurant, and she did say she was invited back on his show once after that.
I hate all he-said-she-said situations, largely because there is no way for a completely innocent person to prove nothing had happened.
(BTW, I find Hannity weird and creepy, too, and it has nothing to do with any of the conditions you mentioned.)

(51,557 posts)If he wanted to go to a restaurant or bar, he would have said restaurant or bar.
And it sounds like the one Fox appearance she made after the incident was an already scheduled appearance. It is not described as a new invitation.
She continues to insist "everything I said was true."
That said, both she and Hannity are horrible people.

(1,714 posts)why someone like Mike Pence has such strict rules for his interactions with women. You can bet there won't be rumors and charges like that about him.
I don't want to seem to be defending Hannity (or Mike Pence) but when there is a lot at stake, both personally and professionally, he-said-she-said is dangerous territory.

(51,557 posts)Only about 7,500 are filed with the EEOC, let alone pursued on through to litigation. Women tend not pursue such claims because when they do, they are raked over the coals for it. Most harassers get away with it, without so much as a complaint against them. Women just leave the workplace or put up with it. They don't even get empathy and support from other women.

(1,714 posts)with the EEOC. Companies want to avoid that, so they deal with it in-house. The woman in the case of Hannity went to the media because he is high profile.
Many years ago my dh had to deal with a situation where an older male employee had a habit of calling female clerical employees "dear." He had to make the guy do some sexual harassment training, and that's where it ended.
