Why are we not calling out 45 on his idiotic 'wall' idea?

Set aside the fact that 45's 'wall' would cause serious damage to the ecosystem along its length. Set aside the fact that 45's 'wall' would cause disruption to US citizens who actually own land along the border. Set aside the fact that 45's 'wall' could cause flooding problems. Ignoring all that, what is the point of the 'wall'?

To stop drugs? Stupid idea. Very little of the illegal drugs that come into the US would be stopped by the wall.

Rear Admiral Christopher Tomney: Tackling the priority networks
Rear Admiral Christopher Tomney is director of Joint Interagency Task Force South for the US Coast Guard.

"[Now] well over 95% of the drugs are moving on the water via container ships, non-commercial vessels, pleasure boats, sail boats, fishing boats. They also have fast boats which try to outrun our law enforcement assets.

"We've seen growing use of self-propelled semi-submersibles (SPSSs) - low-profile vessels made out of marine-grade plywood [and] fibreglass with commercial engines. The smugglers spend up to a $1m (£665,000) to build one of these SPSSs for what is often just a one-way voyage.

What about illegal immigration?

http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/border-issues/2016/10/09/how-many-mexicans-actually-cross-border-illegally/91280026/

According to the DHS report, the number of successful illegal entries — including people making multiple attempts — between ports of entry along the entire southern border with Mexico has plummeted from 1.7 million in 2005 to 170,000 in 2015. The calculations are based on a mathematical formula using published Border Patrol apprehension data and internal re-apprehension data and years of data from surveys conducted by researchers in Mexico with deported migrants in Mexico.

Additionally, a majority of 'illegals' get into the US legally, and overstay their visas, or they come in via water, or they come across, hidden in a vehicle, at a legal border crossing.

So, why does Trump want to spend billions of dollars for a wall? He's got to be making money off it somehow.

Nobody in power really wants it. Congressional Republicans don't really want it. Democrats certainly don't want it at all. I don't even think Trump himself wants it.

Problem is, The Wall was the cornerstone of his campaign. He can't back out. I think if there's one initiative he secretly hopes the courts strike down, it's his wall. "Sorry America. I tried. Those liberal judges! Outrageous!"

Idiotic waste of untold billions of dollars. Might as well light it all on fire.

We are. Damn near everybody is. Nobody wants it but Dolt 45 and his band of deplorables. Some reasons why he wants it: (1) His red-hat-wearing supporters love it because they hate Mexicans who are raping their wimmin and taking their jobs picking lettuce, and which (2) will make them rant and hoot and grunt with adoration at 45's Nuremberg rallies, which even Hitler had only once a year but 45 needs every few weeks to keep him from feeling bad about himself, and (3) contracts for building the thing will be awarded to people or entities connected to 45; could be a source of kickbacks or another convenient front for laundering Russian money.
