so what is trump going to eliminate to pay for his tax cuts?

i remember not too long ago when any program Obama wanted to enact had to be offset by finding the money from some other program.

is that a 'law' that only applies to democratic Presidents?

the hypocrisy just seems to disappear when republicans rule.

When a democrat is in office.

Trump has eliminated a lot of the federal government by not appointing people to positions, but I doubt that will even put a dent in the deficit.

fewer words because I only have 200 for my weekly "column" and I've become more spare with adjectives.

so there will be more infighting and disorganization over this.

but at the end of the day, they all want tax cuts and only some of them want offsetting cuts, so i rather suspect that they'll go ahead with the cuts and let the deficit skyrocket.

after all, that is, historically, what republicans do. cut taxes for the rich and simply don't pay for it. well, they'll pay for a tiny portion of it by taking food right out of the mouths of orphans, but that's about it.

I suppose in certain circumstances that might be true, but I don't believe it will help now.

this has been tried at least since Raygun and it has done nothing except make our country poorer.

Middle class tax cuts? Yeah.
Upper echelon tax cuts? Nope. They may "increase revenue" but never enough to cover the cuts themselves. Basically net negative.

Less money in govt = less power
Less power in govt = less enforcement against consumer rip offs, polluters, and racists.
Simple formula they've been able to cover with talking points since Reagan.

Ever since Reagan, conservatives have argued that the added economic growth from the tax cuts will more than offset the cost of the cuts. The fact that it has never worked that way in real life doesn't stop them from maintaining their fantasy.
