Is this not illegal now? I'm not personally affected, but I know some are. The Trumpers think this is because we have Trump now... I told them the law of the land is equality.
How can BC/BS do this?

Marriage is marriage. Check with your benefits manager.

(5,043 posts)2. I hate to say this, but depending on your state, it might be legal.
LGBT rights are not included in the standard federal protections for employees (i.e. race, religion, gender, national origin).
Some states add LGBT rights to the list, but not all.
Now recently the EEOC declared that LGBT people are protected from employment discrimination (and Benefits as part of compensation would be covered), but I don't think it's been tested in the courts yet.
