We should have followed German's lead by abandoning all thoughts of a military empire and rebuild the US along peaceful lines. Imagine if the US did not spend 60% of its wealth on the war budget and instead used that money to build infrastructure.

The big ones were all dragged before courts, but the hundreds of thousands of low-level lackeys got away with it.

I'm talking administrators of the Third Reich bureaucracy, I'm talking judges of the Third Reich.

There were too many Nazis to investigate, charge and sentence all of them. In addition, the Cold War started basically within months after WWII and there was now more important stuff to do. A thorough de-nazification was replaced with a sketchy, sped-up process.

The big difference between the US and Germany on that is that Germany has more restrictions on freedom of speech.
Spreading Nazi-propaganda or wearing Nazi-symbols can land you in jail. (That's why Neo-Nazis invented symbols like "88".)
A racist speech in public can land you in jail for 3 months to 5 years.

The GOP~Alt right would not exist in public,,,,, having them hiding in shadows is far better than what we have today with them running the country!

You can, however, make sure those ideas do not infect the mainstream workings of government.

Only vigilance and reason can accomplish that.
