And when he made a point that he was sure about, it was devastating.

Strange that such an erudite and thoughtful person chose to ignore the obvious venality behind the Iraq invasion. But always interesting, as you say.

His defense of his friend Stephen Fry's life and morality here, in a debate in front of representatives of the Catholic Church, was a moment of pure clarity and beauty.

when Mr. Hitchins was right, he had a way of getting his point across beautifully - you showed a great example

I never really understood why he went off the rails over something as illogical and evil as IWR

I guess we all have our filters. he was fond of making the point that he had actually been in Iraq and seen the suffering of the people and the cruelty and brutality of the regime. But putting himself on the side of Cheney and Rumsfeld and Bush seemed to me like a gross miscalculation.

still, it's a huge leap of logic to think that Bush INC would in any way be the answer to any suffering

reminds me of all these idiotic Trump voters thinking Trump was for the "working man", all evidence to the contrary

Hitchens had been to all three "Axis of Evil" countries as a journalist. His description of North Korea was really frightening.
