But every judge in this nation would laugh him out of court. The 1st amendment would have to be amended or abolished and even if he and the current repubs began the process, there aren't enough of them to pass it in Congress. If they go the state route, it takes YEARS and, again, not enough states would support it. He's trying to play king again.

There's this Constitution thingy in the way, and even this Supreme Court isn't going to fuck with the First Amendment.

He went ahead and did them anyway.

This needs to be watched. And I don't trust this Supreme Court.

Even Scalia, as awful as he was, consistently voted to uphold First Amendment rights. New York Times v. Sullivan has been established law for some 50 years, and the court has never tried to make the slightest dent in it. Believe it or not, the Roberts court, particularly Roberts himself, has been very supportive of free expression rights. http://www.scotusblog.com/2013/07/the-roberts-court-and-the-first-amendment/

I'm not saying he won't go after journalists. By this time next year, he'll definitely be doing more than just whining about "unfair" media scrutiny. But libel laws are under state jurisdiction. The feds have no authority over libel laws. He's a dumbass.

such a change would be very hard to push through even a Republican congress
and then face considerable & successful challenges in court

so ... probably not.
