Berniecrat challenger to Pelosi claims Old White Guys unwelcome in SF politics

Charming.

http://www.sfexaminer.com/berniecrat-challenger-pelosi-claims-old-white-guys-unwelcome-sf-politics/

Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s left-of-left Berniecrat challenger is off to a shaky start.

Stephen Jaffe, 71, may not be hip to the digital lifestyle, but he’s already learned lesson No 1: Everything you post on social media can come back to bite you in the tuchas.

In October, he shared what he called a “politically incorrect” point of view on Facebook that has some supporters slapping their foreheads.

“Like everyone else, I have no control over who I am; I am an old white guy,” Jaffe wrote. Many local candidates emphasize their diversity — being all female, LGBT or of different genders and ethnicities, and they garner support from those groups, he claimed.

“But there is no Old White Guys Democratic Club in San Francisco,” Jaffe decried. “Many claim our government is controlled by old white straight men like me. But in San Francisco’s Democratic Party circles we are subtlely [sic] unwelcome because we are perceived as a politically incorrect liability.

"no party preference" were not given proper instructions, and should be allowed to "re-vote". It was a bullshit lawsuit, and it rightfully went nowhere

There was no ambiguity on the procedures regarding California's voting for NPP, and it was made very clear, not only in the voting material sent to every registered voter, and how NPP voters can request which party ballot to vote their preference, but also documented online, and any place one registers. It has been in place for decades. There was nothing nefarious going on. It was a bogus lawsuit without merit.

If you deleted all the derisive references to 'old white guys' on this forum...you could free up half the server space.

It is constant, especially in reference to Sen. You Know Who.

So this guys acknowledges both that he is in fact an old white guy, and the plain truth that that is a problem for some people.

Now you all pretend that it's not a thing. Too much!

Referencing reverse discrimination is always a problem because White Men, especially White Men of a certain generation, of certain religious tradition, and of certain financial means have been the defacto "authorities" on every subject in this society. Our societal norms are tailored to their interests and have been for about oh... since the country was founded by old White Men.

Now that there is push back and the views of other groups are very slowly reaching some level of parity in consideration, these guys are crying that they are being discriminated against.

There is a HUGE difference between being discriminated against, and not automatically being deferred and demurred to. He should maybe think about that before opening his mouth or letting loose on teh world wide web again.

There are a ton of people in the district who could give her a stronger challenge than he can.

But, here are the possible reasons why he's running himself instead of them:

1) he can't get anyone else to run because they know voters will choose her
2) he can't get anyone else to run because they prefer her in the position she's in to anyone else
3) he didn't bother trying to get anyone else to run, thinking he, a neophyte, is the best one to take her on

I suspect #3. But if it's #1 or #2 should have told him something, and if it didn't, then he's too dumb to be taken seriously --which he won't be.
