I absolutely am not posting this to start a debate on the pro's and con's of that. Different people can have different views.
That's not what this is about.
The stated position of the United States is that our Embassy is and will remain at Tel Aviv.
The VICE PRESIDENT CANNOT GO AROUND CHANGING THAT

We hadn't heard about it in a while and i thought it was because muslim business people told him it would hurt his business interests in certain areas.

(22,976 posts)Why moving the US embassy to Jerusalem is so controversial
If the United States moved the embassy to Jerusalem, it would mean that the US effectively recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. That would overturn 70 years of international consensus, and, many argue, would effectively signal the end of moves to achieve peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

(63,221 posts)That was very helpful and straightforward. Sounds to me like it would be a pretty stupid move and only increase terrorism in the US and on US interests in other countries.

(80,708 posts)Actually, since 1995 the law has been to move the thing to Jerusalem, and it has only been through a bi-annual waiver from the executive branch that it has been suspended on an incremental basis.

Like you, not looking to debate the pros or cons or wisdom of the actual position, but as far as "stated position of the United States" it has really been that the embassy belongs in Jerusalem, at least according to Congress.
