Are Republicans bluffing on Obamacare repeal?
I don't believe anything the Republicans say. I do know that on Friday the House will adjourn for a week, so if there isn't a vote by then on Obamacare repeal then any attempt to repeal it would be dead as a practical matter. Add to that that many representatives will be gone by Friday morning so tomorrow is the only logical time to have a vote, if there is really going to be one.
So Republicans scheduled a vote for tomorrow saying they now have the votes to repeal. That may be true, but I am cynical enough to seriously doubt it. If they had NOT scheduled it for tomorrow they may as well have tossed repeal out the window, so scheduling it for tomorrow was absolutely necessary for them if they were to have any chance whatsoever to vote for repeal.
I believe they are close to having enough votes, but I wonder how much of this is wishful thinking and an attempt to get the herd to stampede. I am hoping I am right, that they are bluffing and no vote will ever take place, but we cannot take that chance. Too many peoples' lives on on the line. I have made 4 calls tonight alone so please, please keep up your efforts.
This time it really has hit home with me. My brother was recently diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment thanks to insurance he received through Obamacare. He has very limited income (disability) and if he is forced into a high risk pool there is no doubt in my mind that he will lose insurance coverage. This vote, if it comes, could amount to a death sentence for my brother, which angers me beyond comprehension.
So resist with all your might. Sure, I hope it's all a bluff, but even if so, how cruel are these people to even put others though this type of agony?
