(131,292 posts)The entire royal staff of Queen Elizabeth have reportedly been called to an emergency meeting at Buckingham Palace.
And no one has any idea what's it's all about.
Staff from as far as Balmoral, Scotland have been called back to London and Lord Chamberlain, the highest officer of the household and the Queen's right-hand man, Private Secretary Sir Christopher Geidt, will address the meeting this morning, writes The Daily Mail UK fuelling speculation that a major royal announcement is imminent.

(3,790 posts)Although if it is true and he has died, I expect the queen to follow relatively quickly-they've been married for 69 years.

Royal protocol dictates "significant announcements" happen at 8am UK time.
Sorry I forgot to copy the rest of it.

(2,037 posts)Philip famously told Deutsche Press Agentur in 1988 that "In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, in order to contribute something to solve overpopulation."
And it was no youthful indiscretion. He was 67 at the time, and had been in the limelight for 41 years.

Nevertheless, if he has indeed passed away, I wish his family nothing but the best. It's always tough to lose a loved one - no matter how flawed.

(25,926 posts)is the summoning of all staff to Buckingham Palace? I've never heard of that happening before, but that could be simply my ignorance of such a thing having occurred in the past. Maybe it happens every so often but this is the first time it's been reported.
Guess we'll find out soon enough.

(131,292 posts)'There is no cause for alarm about the welfare of Queen Elizabeth or her husband Prince Philip after all senior royal staff were summoned to a meeting at Buckingham Palace, a well-placed source told Reuters on Thursday.
The Daily Mail newspaper had earlier reported that senior aides from across the country had been called to Buckingham Palace for an emergency meeting, leading to wide speculation on social media about the health of the royals.
"There's no cause for alarm," the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Reuters.
Buckingham Palace had no comment on the Mail report but the source said such all-staff meetings did occur occasionally.'>>>
